Music
Throughout the school, music is taught by class teachers using the ‘Charanga’ scheme of work. All classes learn about the key musical concepts of rhythm, pulse and pitch; listen to a variety of musical genres; and sing a range of songs in different styles and from diverse cultures to reflect the Beecholme school community.
Singing is a considerable strength at Beecholme. The whole school joins together each week for singing practice and for many years the Christmas performance has been a collaboration of all classes from Years 1 – 6.
In KS2, drumming lessons have been a feature of our music provision for over 5 years, provided by the Merton Music Foundation. Children develop their performance skills and develop their individual musicality and listening skills. Drumming always culminates in a stunning end of year performance.
