Sports Funding
What is PE & Sport Premium funding?
The PE & Sport Premium is additional government funding aimed at making additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and Sport. Primary schools receive funding each year to make additional and sustainable improvements to participation in extra-curricular sport. At Beecholme Primary School we plan to use the sport premium funding to drive standards and progress in PE Lessons
Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in Years 1- 6. Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil.
How is the school planning to spend its PE & Sport Premium allocation?
Swimming and the National Curriculum
Percentage of 2021/2022 Year 6 cohort swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres?
60% of Year 6 cohort can swim at least 25 metres proficiently using a range of strokes. This is an increase from the start of the academic year where due to pool closures and Covid restrictions children had not been able to engage in swimming sessions.
What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke]? 90%
What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations? 60%
Schools can choose to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to provide additional provision for swimming but this must be for activity over and above the national curriculum requirements. Have you used it in this way?
Yes, Beecholme will commit to intension sessions for pupils who cannot swim 25 meters. This will bring Beecholme in line with National legislation for all pupils to be competent swimmers by the end of KS2.
